Rachel Kitson Board Resignation

From the "VTas board update" news item published Thursday 10 April 2025:

Greetings all members and interested persons,

We wish to advise that President Rachel has stepped down from the board of Volleyball Tasmania, following 5 years as director under the constitutional structure adopted in 2020.

We would like to thank Rachel, both as a board and on behalf of the Tasmanian volleyball community, for her dedication and devotion to volleyball, a sport she continues to be passionate about. A community focus on engagement was clearly one of Rachel's goals; something all volleyball cohorts will benefit from promoting into the future.

On behalf of the Tasmanian volleyball family, we wish Rachel all the very best in future endeavours and hope to see her at an event sometime soon.

Steve, Emilie, Scott (VTas Board of Directors)

Annual General Meeting

The Volleyball Tasmania AGM will be held on Saturday 31 May 2025 with time and location to be announced soon. If you are interested in attending or would like to enquire about becoming a Board Member, reach out to your Club who, as organisations, are our Voting members.

WWVP Changes in Tasmania

From 1 April 2025, new Working with Vulnerable People Regulations come into effect meaning:

  • workers and volunteers who used the 7-day exemption will need to apply for RWVP
  • organisations will no longer need to track the number of days a person is volunteering in a regulated activity while registered.

You can find out more information on these changes and what they mean for our volleyball sector in the RWVP Expansion Fact Sheet.

Beach Volleyball

Local:

We had a very successful 2024-25 beach volleyball season and look forward to doing it all again next season. Congratulations to the hard-working beach crew for facilitating some "fun in the sun" including a couple of fantastic "come and try" events for local Councils.

The beach volleyball committee will also aim to get events and dates up even earlier this year so that plans can be made to participate in our comps and get friends along. As with last year a small survey has been opened up to gather any feedback members or participants may have:

Other News

We just wanted to mention that we had very positive feedback from Clubs Tasmania about the uptake from Volleyball members at the recent Live Life Whole Presentations which focused on the "whole" female in sport. Thanks to everyone for your support in this space and for pushing these events around your Club space.

Volleyball Tasmania will continue to forward through all relevant workshops and presentations that come through to us and we hope that you can continue getting the word out there.
