Registration for this event closes at Tue 03 Dec 2024 20:00.
The social Twilight Beach Series is on again for the 2024-25 beach season.
The slightly different format is as per below:
Format:
Division 1 ($150 per team): Mixed 3's (minimum 1 female)
Division 2 ($200 per team): Mixed 4's (minimum 2 females) [Teams of 3 will also be accepted with a minimum of 2 females or at Tournament Director's discretion, 2 males]
The season fixture is proposed to fit in seamlessly with Southern League and will run every Monday from 9th December 2024 to 16th December 2024 and then resuming every Monday from 6th January 2025 to 10/17th February 2024 (8-9 playing weeks pending 2025 Southern League confirmation).
Games will start as close to 6pm as possible (6:30pm at the latest) and aim to finish by 8:30pm (15-15-12 format compulsory 3-set except finals). Each week, teams will play 2 games and referee/score 1 other on an assigned court.
Fill-in players are allowed but players need to play a minimum of 50% of the season games to be eligible for finals (an exemption may be granted due to unforeseen circumstances). If a 4-player team is short one female and cannot find a fill-in in time, an exception to the minimum 2 female rule may be allowed on a case by case basis.
Please ensure you enter your team members when registering as this will allow us to work around the Southern League Finals if required.

Rule Clarity:
Sky ball or left hand serve on set point is encouraged but not mandatory!
Division 1
- Plays in accordance with the FIVB Beach Volleyball rules.
- In general, there are no rules on who has to touch the ball but if the referee sees that someone is being excluded it is at their discretion to bring this rule in to the game to ensure fair play.
Division 2
- Plays in accordance with the FIVB Beach Volleyball rules with more leniency
- First touch should not be set unless clean, players are encouraged to use beach volleyball overhand alternatives (hand overlap, tomahawk, etc) to play the first ball
- Second touch sets should be more lenient and typically let go if it stays on the players side and the intent is to set a teammate. This allows new and inexperienced players, a chance to learn and practice their beach sets. If it crosses the net causing a disadvantage to the opponent it should be called (unless legitimate)
- Third ball should not be tipped or set (unless clean and in line with shoulders). Players are encouraged to hit, roll or use alternatives to tipping (knuckles, straight finger pokey, backhand, etc)
