For the first time, Volleyball Tasmania is seeking an application from a Strength and Conditioning specialist to help the development and performance of its state teams at both the Australian Junior Volleyball Championship 2023 in Sydney and the Australian Youth Volleyball Championship 2023 in Bendigo. In this role, the successfull candidate will:
- Propose a strength program for athletes which can be tailored to individuals. This also includes rehab specific work;
- Propose a conditioning program that adresses both general fitness and specific needs required to perform volleyball at the highest level for 3 days of intensive competition;
- Provide general athlete monitoring and regular physical testing;
- Reporting information on athletes to coaches in regard to injuries, loading and general athlete wellbeing;
These task will mostly be happening in the lead up to the competitions, in parallel to the volleyball training. There is the expectation that the successfull cnadidate will travel at both competition as part of the delegation, and perform morning pre game warm up for the squads as well as providing rehab work when necessary.
Must have:
- Be available to travel for both competitions;
- Experience with similar high performance outfit, at junior or senior level;
- Have a passion for the sport, or a passion for discovering the sport;
Nice to have, but not compulsory:
- Similar volleyball or other sport event experience, as it would help with understanding what athletes go through during these compressed and intensive competitions;
- Desire to continue in this role for a few years. As the JDP is gearing up to provide the best performing environement for the athletes and the coaches, our ability to rely on an autonomous, trained and experienced S&C specialist would be a major asset.
