Division 1 Women: Van Diemens def. UTAS 3-2

MVP Stevie Dwyer - Zuno

The UTAS women started slight favourites in this match, after going 11-0 for the season, claiming the minor premiership and defeating the Van Diemens ladies on all 3 occasions the two teams met this season. Despite this slight advantage, the Van Diemens ladies were always going to be confident going in to the decider, after all, they were the 3-time defending Southern League and State League Champions. In the end, perhaps it was this winning past that saw the Van Diemens ladies handle the pressure better than their opponents, winning an absolute nail-biter by the slimmest of margins, 15-13 in the fifth set!

Division 2 Women: Van Diemens Blue def. Van Diemens White 3-2

MVP Belinda Warren - Van Diemens White

There wasn't much separating these two teams all season, but the head-to-head was in favour of Van Diemens Blue 2-1 coming in to finals. In fact, after suffering their first defeat for the season to Van Diemens White in round 5, Van Diemens Blue went on a remarkable run, winning their next 9 matches to claim the title. There was absolutely nothing separating the two teams in the grand final; with both teams scoring 104 points. Ultimately, it isn't how many points you win, but which points you win, and on the big points the Van Diemens Blue ladies proved too strong.

Division 1 Men: Van Diemens def. Vikings 3-0

MVP Adrien Ickowicz - Vikings

After a dominant season, only losing 1 match and finishing minor premiers, the Vikings men advanced directly to the grand final; where the reigning State League Champions should be. It was then up to the defending Southern League Champions to win their way through and join them. This didn't prove a problem for the Van Diemens men, accounting for Boss Eagles in straight sets in the preliminary final the week before. A rematch of the 2021 State League final and the 2020 Spring Southern League final, saw these two teams reignite their newly formed rivalry. In the end, perhaps the experience of the Van Diemens men was enough to get them across the line in an electrifying 3 sets of high-quality volleyball.

Division 2 Men: Phoenix Not Dead Yet def. Van Diemens Volleyroos 3-2

MVP Phil Bessell - Phoenix Not Dead Yet

The Van Diemens Volleyroos were favourites for this title, they remained undefeated and finished on top of the ladder, defeating Phoenix Not Dead Yet both times they met this season. Nevertheless, Phoenix were keen to avenge their narrow 5 set qualification final loss to the Volleyroos from a fortnight prior and were made to do it the hard way, after a tough 5 set victory against Boss Hawks in the preliminary final. In the end, the relentless defensive pressure of the Phoenix men proved too strong for the Volleyroos. With the match in the balance in the deciding set, the Volleyroos committed a large number of errors, while Phoenix remained the more composed team, clinching victory in 5 gruelling sets.
